Nancy Leake

Nancy Leake

Nancy grew up in N.W. Indiana and always had a love and desire to be where there were palm trees. She and her husband Don moved to Florida soon after retirement and had a home on the Island of Matlacha for over 15 years. Their three daughters and their families live nearby, filling their days with love and laughter…and plenty to write about! Though age has slowed her down a bit, she still rides her bike every day and enjoys boating and writing poems and short stories.

Some of her accomplishments include:

Oil and water color painting and showings.

Publishing her book “Growing Old On Island Time.” (available on Amazon)

Wrote and had the song “When You Walked Out on Me” recorded.

Won 1 st place at Berreitter Photography and Gallery in St. James City, Fl.

Won the poetry contest and read at The Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda, Fl. in 2016

Won the Children’s literature award in 2015 at Gulf Coast Writers in Ft. Myers, Fl.

Has several poems and stories in the books the Pine Island Writers have published.

Had poetry published in the Ft. Myers News Press and Gary Post Tribune in Indiana.

Has poetry in the Anthology by Peace River Center For Writers at Fl. So. Western State College.

But her greatest accomplishment was raising three wonderful daughters who provided her with three wonderful sons in law….who provided six wonderful grandchildren! Now Nancy has two precious great grandchildren and life just keeps getting better with each day!
